Meal Break Management
We have extended the functionality of the meal break management system to accommodate businesses with more complex needs.
If any of the following statements apply to your business, read on:
I would like to send my employees an alert that lets them know when their meal break is over.
I have employees who need a second meal break due to working over 12 hours daily.
My employees can have paid and unpaid meal breaks.
I want to automatically end my employees' meal breaks at a certain time.
Adjusting Meal Settings
1. Navigate to Payroll Settings and expand the Meal Break Preferences menu
2. You will see summary cards of your meal break rules in this area ordered by Meal Start time.
3. Only one meal exists by default. To add additional meal rules, click the Add Rule button.
β
4. To edit a rule, click the pencil icon.
5. Various settings defined below the image
Set as default Meal: Check this box if this setting is the primary meal rule and first of the day.
Pay Meal Break: Check this box if employees are paid for this particular meal.
Meals to added towards RT,OT, and DOT: Check this box only if meals are paid and count towards overtime accruals.
Meal Break Duration: Determines how long an employee will be locked out from returning to work once a break is started.
Waiver Period: A meal flag will not be triggered in the admin panel if an employee works fewer hours than this amount of time on a given day.
Meal Start Notification: Enable a customized mobile push notification to remind your employees to start their meal. Note -- This timer starts counting at Clock-in
Meal End Notification: Enable a customized mobile push notification to remind your employees to return from their meal. Note -- This timer starts counting at meal start.
Automatic Meal End Setting: Automatically clocks an employee back in from their meal break based on Meal Break Duration above. We don't recommend enabling this feature unless you are providing paid meals.
One final tip. We have added the ability to override whether a meal is paid or unpaid in timecards for situations where an exception to your rule(s) needs to be made. See below images.
