Quick Guide: Updating Kiosk Browser Lockdown and the Samsung OS

A step by step guide on how to update Kiosk Browser Lockdown and perform necessary System Updates on your Samsung Tablet

This guide walks you through updating Kiosk Browser Lockdown and completing Android system updates on a Samsung tablet.

🔐 Step 1 — Exit Kiosk Mode

  1. Look at the black bar at the top where it says Time Clock.

  2. Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Exit to Launcher.

  4. When prompted, enter your PIN:

    • 0000 or

    • 1655

If you see “Select a Home App”

Some devices will show a popup with two options:

  • Kiosk Browser

  • One UI Home

Choose:

  1. One UI Home

  2. Always

You should now land on either the home screen or the App Drawer.

📦 Step 2 — Update All Apps (including Kiosk Browser)

We’ll use the Google Play Store to update everything.

1. Open the Play Store

  • If you see the Play Store on your screen, tap it.

  • If not, swipe up from the middle of the screen to open the App Drawer, then tap Play Store.

2. Open App Management

  1. Tap your profile icon in the top-right (a circle with initials).

  2. Tap Manage apps & device.

3. Update All Apps

  • Look for Updates available → tap Update all.

If you don’t see it:

  • Tap Manage at the top

  • Or switch back to Overview

  • Then tap Update all

Let the updates run in the background. You can continue to the next section while this happens.

⚙️ Step 3 — Update the System Software

1. Open Settings

  • Swipe up from the middle again to open the App Drawer.

  • Tap Settings (gray icon with a white gear).

2. Start the Update

  1. Scroll down to find Software update.

  2. Tap Download and install.

The tablet may:

  • Take several minutes,

  • Download in the background, and/or

  • Reboot automatically

Once it restarts, you’ll return to the home screen or App Drawer.

📲 Step 4 — Relaunch Kiosk Browser

Once updates are done:

  1. Swipe up from the middle to open Apps.

  2. Tap Kiosk Browser.

If you see the “Select a Home App” popup again:

  • Choose Kiosk Browser

  • Tap Always

You’ll return to the kiosk environment, where you can tap Go to Login and continue normal use.

🔁 Note About Auto-Relocking

Kiosk Browser may occasionally relock itself during this process.
If it happens:

  1. Tap the three dots at the top-right.

  2. Choose Exit to Launcher.

  3. Enter your PIN again.

  4. Continue from wherever you left off.

This usually only happens once (if at all).

🎉 You’re Done!

Your tablet now has:

  • All apps updated

  • The latest system software installed

  • Kiosk mode restored and ready for use
